We regularly post news about projects, new site features, general announcements on the website. You can read these articles (posts) by clicking on the latest headlines on the homepage of the website or by going to the main news page.
We utilize the Movable Type content management system for taking care of the dirty work of archiving articles appropriately since we hopefully have better things to do.
In general, no. News posts generally take on the form of announcements and as such are not appropriate for general commenting. When appropriate we will open posts for comments from visitors.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is an emerging file format used for syndication on the web. When a site (such as this one) publishes new content regularly, the site can represent those updates in an RSS file. These files are not meant for display in a traditional web browser, but instead using a specialized newsreader application which periodically check for updated and new content.
For a more technical explanation of RSS, take a look at the article titled “What is RSS?” on XML.com.
Atom is an alternate type of syndicated feed, but provides the same basic service as RSS. We provide both formats as a courtesy to our visitors.
To use these feeds you will need to install a newsreader application such as NewsFire, NetNewsWire or the Firefox web browser which are either designed for or support these formats. There are numerous choices for users on both Macintosh and Windows platforms, but these are a few to get you started.
